Worked example

Why does Alpha pass a four-letter question?

Name a four-letter NATO phonetic codeword.

Alpha · Accepted

Maps to Alfa for 12 fixed points. Membership uses the official codeword; a listed alias keeps the same identity.

Xray · Accepted

Maps to X-ray for 80 fixed points. Membership uses the official codeword; a listed alias keeps the same identity.

Bravo · Outside this set

Bravo is a valid NATO codeword, but it has five letters. Correct spelling cannot override the four-letter boundary.

What the checker actually validates

The validator normalizes case, accents, spaces and punctuation, then checks the selected question’s canonical names and explicit aliases. A suggested spelling is not silently accepted. Confirm the suggestion or try another answer. A missing match may be an omission in our set; compare the source before reporting it.

Open the question page below for the full accepted answer list and its source.

A missing match means “not in our set,” not “definitely wrong.” Reports help improve our answer library. Read our answer policy →
