Progress on your device

A first-party anonymous cookie identifies your practice sessions. Browser storage keeps your completed games, preferences and unfinished answer drafts so a refresh can restore the experience. No email address or account is required.

To reduce repeated questions, browser storage also remembers recently encountered question IDs. Starting a new practice dive sends those IDs to this site’s question selector. The selector uses the list for that request; the saved session keeps its six selected questions.

Quick search remembers up to five search phrases on this device after you open a result. Clear history in the search dialog removes them. Search phrases are matched in your browser; opening the full prompt search carries the phrase in that page’s URL.

Data stored by the game service

The service stores game-session progress and submitted daily answers against that anonymous identifier. Daily submissions power aggregated answer counts. Missing-answer reports include the prompt, the answer you submitted, optional evidence and source URL, review history and the anonymous identifier. Your report status is available only through the browser cookie that submitted it. Do not include personal information in evidence. Battle rooms hold chosen display names, room state and submitted answers so invited players can play together.

Sharing is your choice

Opening the result-sharing panel creates a public, unlisted result link containing the date, mode, scores, theme and challenge settings. It contains no answers, display name or browser identifier. Anyone with that link can view and reshare it. Shared results remain available; this version has no automatic expiry or self-service deletion.

Copying, downloading and handing content to a social app happen only when you choose those controls. Opening a social platform transfers the shared link and message to that platform. Tool links include the selected question, without your answer drafts or revealed results. A battle room link lets others join the room, so share it only with people you want to play with. Choose a display name that you are comfortable showing to the room.

Storage and retention

Progressive hint levels and chosen answer reveals are saved on this device. Personal stats reuse your local dive history. Newly played rounds also record response time and the number of rejected submissions. Community Meta pages use aggregated completed daily rounds and report counts; raw report text is not published there.

Choosing Challenge a Friend saves an unlisted invitation with a fixed copy of its six questions, your score, canonical answer IDs and recorded response times. Anyone with the link can see the original score and play. Each friend sees their own comparison; the creator can see up to 20 recent comparisons. Comparisons expose scores, timing and answer overlap counts, not answer text or browser identifiers. Challenge links and results have no automatic expiry or self-service deletion in this version.

The anonymous cookie lasts up to one year. Temporary game-session progress expires seven days after the last state-changing game action. Published results, challenges, recorded daily choices and answer reports do not have automatic expiry. Clearing this site’s cookies and storage removes local history and breaks your browser’s link to its previous identifier; it does not delete server records already stored.

Hosting and analytics

Game activity events record starts, completions, repeat practice, and visits to and returns from Answer Lab. These events may include the subject, mode, timer setting and number of accepted rounds. They do not include your typed answers. When you open Answer Lab from a completed dive, the answer draft stays in this tab’s session storage; it is not added to the link or sent to Google Analytics. Checking the draft sends it to our answer service.

Fonts are hosted with the site. The hosting provider may process technical request data to deliver and secure the service.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits and how people use the site. Google Analytics uses cookies and processes information such as pages visited, referring websites, browser and device details, and interactions with the site. Seehow Google uses data from sites that use its services.
