Review a Dive: Recall, Rule Boundaries and Input Mistakes

Turn a completed six-question dive into one concrete practice task without mistaking a low fixed score for a wrong answer.

Separate the outcome from its cause

A completed round can end with an accepted answer, a timeout or a skip. An accepted round can still contain rejected attempts before the final input. Look at the round review rather than treating a single total score as a complete account of what happened.

A low-scoring accepted answer is not a rejection. Earth is valid in the eight-planets question and earns 15 fixed points. If your aim is a higher score, practice another eligible choice. If the input was rejected, investigate its membership and spelling before trying to optimize points.

Choose the drill that matches the problem

For a recall problem, use an untimed question and name two eligible choices before revealing the list. For a scope problem, compare a broad and narrow question: Emma belongs to Austen’s six completed novels but is outside the before-1815 publication set. Explain the changed condition in your own words.

For an input problem, check the intended canonical name and a listed alias. The checker’s possible-typo suggestion is a lead to inspect, not automatic acceptance. If the evidence supports a genuinely missing choice, submit a report and keep the question’s reference date with it.

Use history as your own record

My Stats and Adaptive Practice use completed dives saved in this browser. Newly recorded rounds include response times and rejected-attempt counts; older records may not contain the same diagnostic detail. Clearing browser storage or changing devices breaks that local continuity.

A weak subject suggests somewhere to practice, but six questions are a small sample. Compare several sessions with similar timer settings and subject choices. A better score after switching to an easier set does not by itself measure improved recall.

Keep the next session small

Choose one boundary, one alternate spelling or one backup answer to revisit. Start with No timer to check the rule, then repeat a fresh timed dive when you can explain your choice. The aim is a reliable answer under the selected conditions, not an invented guarantee of winning.

Use the question page’s untimed practice link when you want that exact prompt first. Use a fresh subject dive when you want to test transfer across different questions. Shared dives deliberately preserve their questions, so they serve a different purpose from unseen-question practice.
